Whether you are coaching on the field, at a networking event, or at the negotiation table, one of the worst things you can do is to be inauthentic. Most people can easily tell when others are inauthentic. It makes us feel uncomfortable and, frankly, less trusting of the person and situation, which is not something that you want in any setting, including in the sports or business world. People want to work with and do business with people that they like and that they trust. So, avoid the common misstep of faking it on the field or at work. Whoever you are, be you. Own you.
